About Me

My name is Erika Moore.  I am a Sommelier.  If you don’t know what that is, some like to refer to me as a professional “Wine-O”.  I prefer “alcohol enthusiast” because being a Sommelier goes so much deeper than just wine, although, the focus is on the wine.  Realistically, I am a whiskey girl with a passion for grapes, geography and the romanticism involved in wine making.  Don’t worry… I drink my fair share of wine as well.

Beyond wine, I am a self proclaimed chef.  I love food; please don’t ask me what my favorite is, because I could never decide.  Not only do I love to cook from scratch (usually in quantities way too big for Michael and I), but I am in constant pursuit of the best places to eat.  I love the idea of locally sourced, fresh and organic foods, but my budget doesn’t alway allow for that.  I tend to over extend myself in this.  My monthly food budget exceeds my car payment most times, but where does one draw the line when food is the thing one loves most?

If you haven’t deciphered it by now, I work in “the industry.”  For those of you who also work in the dreaded industry, who know what that means.  For those of you who do not work in the industry, I mean I spend my nights serving you food and drinks, trying to wow, please, and provide the best experience possible.  Don’t get me wrong; I love what I do.  I have been doing it for 15 years, after all.  There are so many perks to my job.  I get to try new food, do wine and cocktail trainings, meet so many unique and pleasant people, not to mention the flexibility I have in my schedule.  But it isn’t always rainbows and french fries.  But that is not what I am here for.  Not today anyways.

I am a native Texan, and like all Texan’s, proud of it.  I wear a permanent reminder of where home is on my ankle.  I live in South Florida, and love the beach.  Once you uproot and live in eternal summer land, it is really hard to migrate home.  I have three dogs, Cali, Nox and Lily, who I am sure I will reference frequently, and two cats, Burbank and Orion, who belong to my beloved boyfriend, Michael (a.k.a. Perry.)  He loves food as much as I do, and I love to cook it for him.  The look of pleasure on a person’s face when they realize over and over that their girlfriend is a “Top Chef”, brings an amount of joy that I can’t even begin to describe.  That is why I am the sole cook in this home.

So I am sure you are all wondering what the point of all of this is.  I am here to share my love for food, liquids and the industry with you.  The good, the bad and the ugly.  Some will be funny and sarcastic, some will be down right nerdy, but all of it will be true.
